Twister um ah

[:

[00:00:05] Chris: All of this, like, I felt like all the exposition was very, very tight and well done. Does

[:

[00:00:14] Sherry: That's like Ricky Bobby, he's covering his bases. Yeah, same with Tom Cruise, you know.

[:

[00:00:20] James: You don't have to say it, Bill. When she's late. In a loud crowd. Put it in the trailer. It.

[:

[00:00:30] Chris: Yeah. I like the setup of the movie a lot.

[:

[00:00:38] James: That's a, that's an emotional swing for 24, 48 hours.

[:

[00:00:52] Chris: Yes.

[:

[00:01:00] Phil: Are you ready? Yes. All right. Let's do shares bumper.

[:

[00:01:12] Sherry: Well, these are real quick. I always wanted to do the one pop quiz, but we have already reviewed. So anyway, all right, these are real simple and I hope they're correct, actually. All right. First one I'll have what she's having.

[:

[00:01:35] Sherry: right. The next one, let's kick the tires and light the fires.

[:

[00:01:40] James: Independence day.

[:

[00:01:42] James: That's the Harry Connick Jr. Yeah. Yeah. Oh

[:

[00:01:46] James: watched that one not too long ago.

[:

[00:01:52] Sherry: so. Yeah. I haven't seen it in a while. So yeah.

[:

[00:01:56] Sherry: Well, I haven't watched it in a,

[:

[00:02:09] Sherry: So.

[:

[00:02:13] Sherry: Anyway. Alright, last one. I love the smell of napalm in the morning.

[:

[00:02:18] Chris: Apocalypse Now.

[:

[00:02:19] Chris: Well, that's one that Victory.

[:

[00:02:26] Chris: it's

[:

[00:02:27] Chris: Phil does not like it.

[:

[00:02:31] Chris: It's dark. It is dark. I like it a lot, but it's not one you can watch like all the time. It's kind of like Blade Runner, where you Yes.

[:

[00:02:43] Phil: I watched more than once. I have the Dossier version or whatever they call it the nice. Yeah.

[:

[00:02:48] Phil: it's another one There's again

[:

[00:02:52] Chris: Yeah.

[:

[00:03:04] Sherry: That sounded like tater tots instead of fries this time,

[:

[00:03:08] Sherry: or maybe onion rings maybe you're

[:

[00:03:25] Chris: And then immediately your next line is, that's the worst part of that movie.

[:

[00:03:34] Phil: All right we ready for money crates fans in mm hmm. All right, very good.

[:

[00:04:01] Phil: Come on. But, what really surprised me was audience score was even lower than that, lower than that at 58%. So I don't know why the audience has such a lukewarm Reception of this movie over the course of its life. I thought it still held up. I still enjoyed it .

[:

[00:04:18] Chris: Yeah, yeah. Right. I mean, sure. Like I said, I don't have necessarily a problem with a, a sequel. I wish they had done it sooner before Bill passed, but yeah. Mm-Hmm. Granted, I dunno what the story's gonna be, but Yeah, that's that. I'm with you. Those are awfully low numbers. The low numbers to [00:04:30] me. The sequel may be out big hit, right?

[:

[00:04:33] Sherry: well, the sequel may be out before we missed this, but we have. It hasn't come out yet. I don't know. I think it comes out in July.

[:

[00:04:44] Phil: Now that being said, we had talked about Apollo 13 making 355 million.

[:

[00:04:50] Phil: This beat it by 150 million. On top of that, domestically it made 241 million, international 252 million, [00:05:00] for a grand total of 494 million. Apollo 13 only 355 million.

[:

[00:05:11] Sherry: it. 96. And I guess maybe about 30 bucks of that is mine.

[:

[00:05:35] James: Well,

[:

[00:05:54] Phil: That's true. You know, Speed, Jurassic Park, and The Shining are all

[:

[00:06:05] James: yeah. Lost Boys is a good one. Jamie Gertz.

[:

[00:06:10] James: She's the doctor. Melissa Reeves.

[:

[00:06:14] Sherry: Oh, oh,

[:

[00:06:16] Chris: Yeah, yeah. I thought you were going to say a Judy Garland musical, and I was like, fuck me. Yeah, right. But, so I'm glad you, right, that's coming too. Wonderful. Yeah.

[:

[00:06:27] Chris: Okay. Anyway,

[:

[00:06:31] Chris: cut off.

[:

[00:06:51] James: Maybe the bad reviews I saw in some of the trivia here, maybe some of the bad reviews are from the home release. Because the, the Dolby surround sound that they [00:07:00] used blew out home surround sound system.

[:

[00:07:04] James: it blew out all subwoofers and all kinds of stuff.

[:

[00:07:07] Sherry: I heard that about Top Gun.

[:

[00:07:12] James: Original or the new one?

[:

[00:07:14] James: Nice. Really? He just had it turned up too loud. Yeah.

[:

[00:07:24] James: storm are amazing.

[:

[00:07:42] James: No,

[:

[00:07:45] Sherry: Oh, the, the. The very first thing they show, I love the opening of this movie. I really love how it opens up with the clouds and then the roar and the twister coming up.

[:

[00:08:08] Sherry: Well, I'm talking about the very, very, very, yeah, the Warner Brothers logo and stuff. Yeah. But yeah, then yes, it, it, it doesn't take off slow, which, you know, I can't stand that. No, this gets you right into it. Yeah. You

[:

[00:08:21] Sherry: want

[:

[00:08:26] Chris: Yeah.

[:

[00:08:29] Chris: and everything's [00:08:30] up there.

[:

[00:08:33] Chris: want to read all I can read, but all you see on my phone, who's in this movie, right?

[:

[00:08:38] Phil: It's good. All right. Any other thoughts on box office? It actually absolutely killed it, but that's kind of numbers.

[:

[00:08:50] James: this, this has some awesome people in it too. Yeah, maybe Bill

[:

[00:08:53] James: eh,

[:

[00:08:54] James: probably

[:

[00:08:55] James: right? I'd be very surprised if there weren't scripts written, and they were probably like, yeah.

[:

[00:09:06] Phil: Yeah, yeah, we didn't talk about what, what, what. Apollo 13 was, but it's probably a dude with a lot of problems.

[:

[00:09:14] James: Oh yeah. I don't know about the sins and the house. Well, it almost becomes, you know, jaws in the air kind of, yeah. They're in the plains of Oklahoma. Sharknado

[:

[00:09:24] Phil: Yeah.

[:

[00:09:34] Chris: It could be, I was thinking monster

[:

[00:09:39] Phil: that you haven't seen it, you know, skip one house and go hit another and come after you. Jesus. Is that what you think? What do you think it did? Yeah. Right. That's not his perception. That's hers. She is to me.

[:

[00:09:49] Chris: Yeah.

[:

[00:09:50] Chris: There you go. Yeah, for sure.

[:

[00:09:58] Chris: to it. But so you're talking about, [00:10:00] you know, metaphors and just stuff being deep and thematic or whatever, like for you, like you would have a character in there reading that reading that book, huh?

[:

[00:10:10] Phil: Yes. Because

[:

[00:10:12] Phil: had, well, when we did there's a cut shot of the books that Conn has. One of 'em is Moby Dick I think, or whatever, I don't know, but,

[:

[00:10:25] Chris: other guys that have been reading it or, or the guy listen to opera or, yeah, I always think was [00:10:30] Cameron Alan Ruck?

[:

[00:10:31] Phil: a, yes. I think it's a missed opportunity. You have a little. Pirate ship hanging from the mirror. I don't know a little ship something right anyway, but we're overthinking it anyway We're ready to move into the beats. Yeah. No, that's cool.

[:

[00:11:14] Phil: And this obviously has scarred her.

[:

[00:11:18] Phil: Anyway, go ahead.

[:

[00:11:23] Phil: just

[:

[00:11:24] Phil: stand for now? Everything's enhanced, enhanced, I think

[:

[00:11:35] Sherry: It's like, well, now it's an EF now.

[:

[00:11:40] Phil: No.

[:

[00:11:41] Sherry: science,

[:

[00:11:43] Phil: science, bitch. I want to say, so I'm trying to think back to what her closing image is because. They're cuddling together, not looking

[:

[00:11:53] Phil: Sure. And they're going to obviously have a lab now and maybe be able to give people more than three.

[:

[00:12:08] James: Yeah. Her opening image is her looking up at the sky. Cause it just ate her father and her closing images. I've seen enough of it now. I've got what I want.

[:

[00:12:32] Phil: To beat the storm that took her dad. Maybe the other track is this romance with Bill that they get back together. So at the end of the movie, both things seemingly have been resolved. Anyway, so maybe that does that very

[:

[00:12:50] Chris: I feel like they're two different things. Right? A lot of times. Sure. Right? So just

[:

[00:12:58] Chris: Again, told you before these [00:13:00] notes weren't weren't great. You run to the influence of the grape. I was, I was for sure.

[:

[00:13:17] James: change.

[:

[00:13:23] Phil: Right.

[:

[00:13:24] Phil: I mean, I think they both have parts. I don't know why.

[:

[00:13:37] Phil: Yes, it's her ghost, her wound. Yep. To the, to the extent that, you know, Bill walked away because she was so obsessed and wouldn't solidify the relationship with him. Like loving her was, you'd always be second to the obsession of the storm. And I think at the end that's been ratified because now she's feeling like she can make her father's [00:14:00] death worthwhile now.

[:

[00:14:02] Phil: know, she got back something.

[:

[00:14:12] Phil: Obsessed. Absolutely. But,

[:

[00:14:15] Phil: feeling the loss of But not, not coming to terms with it. And anyway,

[:

[00:14:23] Chris: Right. And we find that out later or whatever, that that's her backstory. I don't think that would have worked. Like I got to see the visuals. That's what they

[:

[00:14:45] James: Dream sequences and remembering flashback sequences of that stuff when they played it. They're like, okay, this ain't working. Let's just put it as a prologue at the beginning and wipe out all of the, because

[:

[00:14:59] Phil: much

[:

[00:15:01] Phil: as horrendous as that storm is.

[:

[00:15:07] Chris: No, I was just thinking about it, like the R rated version, like it would not have whatever its box office is. No, I don't think so. One, because you alienate, because kids can't go see it and stuff, but yeah. But it's not playful.

[:

[00:15:20] Phil: movie Twister, people want to see the Twister. And so we're going to, they hit you with it in the first four seconds. Right out of the gate. Right out of the gate.

[:

[00:15:29] Phil: And they save the [00:15:30] dog, not the cat.

[:

[00:15:47] Phil: That's what I Her ex husband, Bill, has moved on, but she, despite appearances, has not. Bill has a new job, a new wife, a new truck the device they worked on is now a functioning prototype. A whole new you. What's that? A [00:16:00] whole new you. A whole new you. Yeah.

[:

[00:16:04] Chris: I guess I'm not. I guess I'm not. She purposely fucks up the name, you know? Melissa. Melinda instead of Melissa or whatever. It's all passive aggressive.

[:

[00:16:11] Chris: Sexual therapist? Yours?

[:

[00:16:20] Phil: I, I wish she maybe would've done more. I don't know. I, I thought she was good. She had a really successful career on tv. In tv, yes.

[:

[00:16:28] Phil: Oh yeah.

[:

[00:16:30] Chris: What about you? What was the name of the show? Mad About You? Mad About, mad About You? That one Paul Rise. Paul Riser. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. She's in what women Want.

[:

[00:16:38] Phil: Yes.

[:

[00:16:40] Phil: Anyway, so that's, that's essentially the setup. Catalyst or anything else on set up that you want to mention, we're basically learning who these characters are. We, we meet the Misfit team, you know, with the various talk, talk about the maps, you know, you don't fold the maps, roll the maps, you know, so we get a little sense of who each of these characters are in characteristic moments,

[:

[00:17:00] James: Melissa Reeves, his fiancee are going to be wife. Yeah. She doesn't know anything about this. So she is our in as your audience of for the exposition of who everybody is, what they're doing. And she has no idea that Bill Paxton actually chased tornadoes. I thought it was a metaphor. Right.

[:

[00:17:22] Chris: To, to hide all the, the quote unquote, boring exposition. You've got a character that knows anything about the world. You're able to explain it to them. And they make it [00:17:30] fun. Like they couldn't sit her down and have this boring, these boring ass scenes where you're explaining it, but yeah, the writers did a good job where they cover that up.

[:

[00:17:54] Phil: There is a rival team more equipped and financially backed than them, Jonas and And his team and they [00:18:00] stole the idea for Dorothy

[:

[00:18:06] Chris: I thought it worked. I wasn't pulled out by it.

[:

[00:18:09] Chris: but it jacks with you because you know, that's not how he's coming out of that face.

[:

[00:18:14] Phil: days of sniffing the dirt are over.

[:

[00:18:27] Chris: Well, yeah.

[:

[00:18:43] Chris: Yeah, I had that, and when I was tracking from his story, he says, I'll give you one day, that was his break into two for me. Again, I was tracking for the wrong person.

[:

[00:19:02] Phil: This is where I have my break into two. Singing and speeding their way into act two. I think they play the Van Halen song at that point or something. I'm No, no. They bit later, right?

[:

[00:19:13] Phil: they play,

[:

[00:19:14] Sherry: Yeah. They have . It's true.

[:

[00:19:31] Phil: Okay. Well, that makes sense.

[:

[00:19:33] James: he's like liability only, you got to buy into the thing and say yes. And then he says yes. And they use this truck.

[:

[00:19:42] James: It's cause it's right after that. Like right after the, the first attempt goes haywire.

[:

[00:19:51] James: His breaking

[:

[00:19:52] Chris: breaking it to but she's but if it's her story, right?

[:

[00:20:04] Chris: She's immersed all

[:

[00:20:18] Phil: Mm hmm, but only one day But I

[:

[00:20:28] Chris: Everyone go [00:20:30] fast

[:

[00:20:35] Phil: Yeah,

[:

[00:20:41] Phil: not drive fast enough for her anyway Singing and speeding their way into Act Two, they're all cruising down the highway at high speed.

[:

[00:20:53] James: Oklahoma. Oklahoma. Oklahoma, where the wind

[:

[00:20:57] Sherry: Oh, I sing Oklahoma with them every time. [00:21:00] Anyway. I sing Oklahoma when I cross the, the, the state line every time.

[:

[00:21:05] James: not allowed in Texas. Sure,

[:

[00:21:08] James: can't sing Oklahoma in Texas. Once you get across the border, then

[:

[00:21:19] Chris: Right.

[:

[00:21:36] Phil: And Bill, Bill has to pull her back.

[:

[00:21:39] Phil: Sure.

[:

[00:21:41] Phil: to it. Almost. I'm not kidding

[:

[00:21:59] Sherry: They're like, [00:22:00] what are you doing? I said, I want to look.

[:

[00:22:14] Chris: it. Yeah, they're only in there because she goaded him, right?

[:

[00:22:29] James: Yep. [00:22:30] Oh, that's cool. Those are cool.

[:

[00:22:48] Phil: It

[:

[00:22:49] Phil: It was when they came out with that truck. Walker Texas Ranger used it. You know, there was that new design on that Dodge truck, which didn't look like anything else and everybody was using it.

[:

[00:23:05] James: And Oh man, that was sweet. Oh yeah.

[:

[00:23:09] James: right. You had a silver one. Yeah, I

[:

[00:23:19] Phil: Paxton's truck. I miss driving a pickup, but I just could not afford the gas, man.

[:

[00:23:39] James: It's like Bob's road. Rabbit is good.

[:

[00:23:44] Phil: So, so that, I thought that was very cool, you know, pre technology almost. This is still fun and games tracking one another, predicting the shift or tracking another one, I'm sorry predicting the shift, multiple tornadoes and cows, same cow, and then twin tornadoes another.

[:

[00:24:01] Chris: yeah, so the trailer moments, Melissa, right? She's a reproductive therapist, right? Yeah, she didn't marry you for your penis. Well, maybe she'll only marry She's talking to people about creating life why they are facing death.

[:

[00:24:19] Chris: right.

[:

[00:24:31] Chris: where'd all this beef come from? You see my cows? Michael Beverly liked this movie a lot and they make what they call twister dinner and they make that meal like with the mashed potatoes.

[:

[00:25:01] Phil: Billy crystal west what was it called?

[:

[00:25:10] Chris: do that Anyway that's right Secret to life.

[:

[00:25:28] Phil: The one that took Joe's father. Only one [00:25:30] of us has seen that. So that was an evil bill and I killed him. Absolutely. An F3 is reported. The chase begins anew, Bob's Road.

[:

[00:25:40] Phil: Good.

[:

[00:25:46] Sherry: Yes.

[:

[00:26:01] Sherry: supposed to several. Yeah. It's humans being, it's with yeah. Fear the wind or something.

[:

[00:26:10] James: There was supposed to be a whole lot more, apparently it came to fist fighting when it came time to record some of that stuff. Nice. Nice. Oh damn. That was at the end of Van Halen.

[:

[00:26:19] James: I'm recording. Bill PackMan song.

[:

[00:26:31] Phil: I'll give you a start on Eddie Van Halen. Anyway and after we reported Bob's Road, we got hail. It's a space station. So I thought that's the moon space station.

[:

[00:26:52] Sherry: they're gradually getting worse. Yes. This is an F3

[:

[00:26:57] James: And they got to get as close to it as possible to [00:27:00] get these damn sensors into it. So that's the reason for even chasing it or getting close. Cause I guess normally they just watch them right before Dorothy. They were just watching these things and chasing them.

[:

[00:27:13] James: Yeah. Now they're getting crazy.

[:

[00:27:28] James: they got Cars that they try to [00:27:30] anchor into the ground. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. So, yeah.

[:

[00:27:34] Sherry: That's what he calls

[:

[00:27:53] Chris: I'm not doing it. No, I

[:

[00:27:57] Chris: I would only do that if you pushed me. Now I got to deal with it. I mean? [00:28:00] I'm not doing it willingly. Well, that's true.

[:

[00:28:02] Phil: All right. That leads me to a midpoint false defeat. Is that, is that what you guys had of anything?

[:

[00:28:28] Phil: And this is when he sort of. [00:28:30] Loses her I'm, I'm right here, Joe, you got right in front of me, you know, so she begins to understand that maybe he's still in love with her too. So this, I have, doesn't want to be a weatherman. Doesn't want to be a weatherman. False defeat.

[:

[00:28:45] Sherry: She's the craziest one of them all. Yes.

[:

[00:28:49] Sherry: Right.

[:

[00:28:50] Phil: Right. Leading to the bad guys close in at the drive in at night with no warning the storm is coming for them. Right out of the darkness, this thing emerges, which I thought [00:29:00] still worked. It's

[:

[00:29:04] Sherry: And that I think is still why to this day, I am more afraid of those things at night. Oh, sure. Yeah, no, it comes out of the dark, like a

[:

[00:29:15] Sherry: thankfully, a lot of times, you know, once the sun goes down, the atmosphere is not right for him, but

[:

[00:29:24] Sherry: to

[:

[00:29:32] Sherry: well, it's just the look on their faces.

[:

[00:29:39] Phil: here,

[:

[00:29:41] Sherry: Yeah.

[:

[00:29:46] Phil: lightning and, and they're watching the Mm-Hmm. . You might have, you probably noticed it, but when that tornado tears up that screen, it's, it's Jack's face.

[:

[00:30:16] Phil: Joe has to be pulled from the brink three times. I was able to count where bill almost has to pull her back from wanting to just sort of go right up to that tornado.

[:

[00:30:33] Chris: She got, she got eight. And then I was like, okay, that's a lot. That's probably for everybody hadn't seen in a while for God. And then Bill comes up and orders his own like, Oh shit. She was like, fuck you. I'm like, he had said,

[:

[00:30:50] Phil: So she's gotta be. Confused at this point,

[:

[00:31:07] Chris: responsibly responsible, but

[:

[00:31:12] James: she got yelled at too much. That's probably why,

[:

[00:31:18] Phil: That's the bad guys dark

[:

[00:31:23] Phil: coffees.

[:

[00:31:29] Chris: I'm two [00:31:30] sips, I'm turning around and getting another one. Right? As soon as it's cool, boom, it's gone. Yeah, that's right. That's terrible.

[:

[00:31:39] Chris: doesn't matter, nobody's going to be drinking these things anyways.

[:

[00:31:44] Phil: Aunt May gets injured. The marriage proposal is over. Joe sees a family that's Now, Sherry mentioned this Dark Knight or All is Lost? Dark Knight. Okay, now, funny you mention that because I don't have an All is Lost at all.

[:

[00:32:03] James: That makes sense,

[:

[00:32:12] James: in

[:

[00:32:14] James: In the drive in when they go to the garage and they're all hiding in the pit. All is lost is this then.

[:

[00:32:35] Sherry: Yep.

[:

[00:32:37] Sherry: survived,

[:

[00:32:42] James: But if you notice, sorry, if you notice they didn't have any warning. Right at the beginning of the movie, it's take cover now, blah, blah, blah. And the old TV set, aunt Meg comes out saying, we only had a couple minutes when the sirens went off.

[:

[00:33:05] Phil: Yes. Yes,

[:

[00:33:13] Chris: right right science project Yeah, she's all at a loss. I don't know how to

[:

[00:33:21] Phil: So this is the all is lost. Yes Yes decided the dig deep down, Joe, doesn't know how to stop the store. I'm stopping you. Okay. [00:33:30]

[:

[00:33:40] James: to the

[:

[00:33:49] Sherry: That's a good point. Sherry gets one of those. I just always found it funny. I don't know why.

[:

[00:34:06] Phil: was a good one. Big numbers. All right. Give me a couple. Blew my mind. Mind blown.

[:

[00:34:20] James: And they, she sees the, the lawn art. Yes. Yes. Yard art. Yeah.

[:

[00:34:31] Chris: Not Bill's. I've been tracking this wrong. It's like you did your homework wrong. Yeah. So that's how, yeah. The top of the thing. But yeah, I watched this movie and I was like, fuck, she, if she's breaking into threes and yep, I screwed this up. It's not Bill's story. It's her story. Oh, that's fine. I think I said it out loud too.

[:

[00:34:55] Phil: Breaking the three. You get kicked out. All right. I think what's his name? We're gone. You know, they, [00:35:00] they all bundle up and take off after this. That's her gathering the team together to,

[:

[00:35:07] James: That was my note. Yes. All right. Yeah. Yeah. At the beginning where they're talking about Gary L was having all the corporate sponsors and only in it for the money. Yeah. They sure as shit had a lot of Pepsi cans just laying around. It's Mountain Dew

[:

[00:35:27] Chris: I mean, they showed them with their hands bloody and cut up, but [00:35:30] that's when those scenes made my hands hurt. Oh no, no, no. Whatever, gotta save people.

[:

[00:35:45] Phil: The truck is saved by a bigger truck and Jonas dies.

[:

[00:36:01] Phil: dropping. I mean, the visuals to me, I still, Oh God.

[:

[00:36:11] Chris: it was cheesy in 96, but it's cheesy now.

[:

[00:36:24] Phil: Did you guys hear, like, when his cuck is going down, did it sound like somebody was screaming, No, no, no! [00:36:30] Yeah,

[:

[00:36:32] Phil: Oh, okay. Okay. I didn't hear it. Okay. Yeah. So Jonas

[:

[00:36:39] Phil: yes,

[:

[00:36:41] James: Yes.

[:

[00:36:45] Sherry: wait a minute. So it's him yelling and not someone on the team. No, no. I think it's Jonas in that

[:

[00:36:53] Phil: But I, it started to be like, Jonas was, he was Well, I didn't.

[:

[00:36:58] Sherry: All I heard was the truck going shoo, [00:37:00] you know, probably

[:

[00:37:08] Phil: Yes.

[:

[00:37:11] Phil: absolutely. Yeah. So high tower suprise, I would say is Dorothy the first Dorothy being wrecked, they only have one more.

[:

[00:37:23] James: So they had four Dorothys. Apparently. First one in her jeep. Second one got [00:37:30] tossed. Then they loaded the red truck up with a dual set. Yes. In the third act. Yes. Lost one. Yeah, they had one more.

[:

[00:37:40] Phil: it's the last

[:

[00:37:41] Phil: or.

[:

[00:37:52] James: A star is born.

[:

[00:37:54] Phil: those. Yes. Oh, okay. All right

[:

[00:38:01] Phil: Finale dodging farm equipment going in and out of a house, you know, we're going in I think you yeah He's mentioned the last Dorothy punching the core the truck is the anchor, Dorothy takes flight, storm shifts and makes the last stand against Bill and Joe they have to run for their lives, board spears, these boards, man, oh my god close calls, they anchor Dorothy and then Joe and Bill have to anchor themselves.

[:

[00:38:29] James: Oh, I like [00:38:30] when they went through the, the tool shed.

[:

[00:38:33] Chris: these people? Who are these people? Yeah.

[:

[00:38:35] Chris: my

[:

[00:38:35] Chris: Oh, I don't think so. When they leave, yes. But yeah, the, the pickets coming off the Yes.

[:

[00:38:41] Phil: those things just like spears man. Well,

[:

[00:38:52] Phil: that. A house. That's scary. Now, this I thought was interesting. After the storm goes away, you see the devastation, but in the background is a house that's [00:39:00] left standing.

[:

[00:39:17] James: And they're already talking about future plans, and laboratories, and crews. No, you're gonna run the

[:

[00:39:22] James: know, whatever. First thing I'd be doing is talking about who's gonna pay for that truck. Cause he only had liability insurance, and Yes. It is gone. Now

[:

[00:39:29] Phil: [00:39:30] both don't have a truck.

[:

[00:39:32] Phil: how are they gonna get along?

[:

[00:39:35] James: now we're gonna, oh yeah. They're gonna get all kinds of money in there, but, but yeah, no, they, that's his first thing is Okay, who's paying for that truck?

[:

[00:39:47] Chris: I, I don't know,

[:

[00:39:54] Phil: talked about it is, we had talked about gonna WTA sometime, didn't it?

[:

[00:40:12] James: Oh, like the gone with the wind museum in Cleburne.

[:

[00:40:15] James: yeah. There's a gone with the wind museum down there. Like, yeah, you have to, it's a thing.

[:

[00:40:26] Chris: Heiko thing for Billy the kid? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah,

[:

[00:40:37] James: in Wakita, I read in the notes again, like this movie being filmed, they're really helped them out building stuff, fire trucks and demolished houses.

[:

[00:40:53] Phil: We got to do our past. Consider any other thoughts before we

[:

[00:40:58] Phil: So

[:

[00:41:06] Sherry: As a matter of fact I have a cousin that goes out with the storm chasers. I think he said this was his third year that he went out with them. And my mother was like, if you'd asked me years ago, I would have gone with you. Kind of thing. Cause she loves them too. So we went to see it. And then I don't remember the second, no, the second time I drove.

[:

[00:41:44] James: this not only just in the theater, but at a drive in as well.

[:

[00:41:54] Sherry: was one that. And I definitely want to see the second one. I don't know if it's going to be as good,

[:

[00:42:08] James: What? Chasing it. And she's like, you got to remember there were no seatbelts in these cars. That's

[:

[00:42:26] Sherry: You're talking about two lane backwards,

[:

[00:42:31] Sherry: Yeah. And it's very dangerous. And even the most seasoned storm chasers, there were the ones that I think this was loosely based on, and they were killed not long ago. Long ago, yeah.

[:

[00:42:45] Sherry: But so they're very dangerous, but it's fascinating.

[:

[00:43:02] Phil: All right, Cher, you kick us off with your movie.

[:

[00:43:26] Phil: Yeah.

[:

[00:43:31] Phil: Well, yeah, the, the blowing up and.

[:

[00:43:34] Phil: Yeah.

[:

[00:43:45] Sherry: You ever

[:

[00:43:48] Sherry: if you're seeing these. No, I think you would. If you see these all the, the projectile things coming, but then all of a sudden they're in the center of it and nothing's, I guess it's because they're in the center, [00:44:00] they're in the suck zone.

[:

[00:44:01] James: debris is in the suck zone. Yeah.

[:

[00:44:03] Phil: was the end. They were

[:

[00:44:10] Phil: I think they have a good balance of fun and. And visuals,

[:

[00:44:27] Sherry: It's a

[:

[00:44:28] Sherry: yeah.

[:

[00:44:49] James: You were not going to live. You're not going to live. So, you know, that

[:

[00:44:53] James: us to get close without right. Which is the magic of your popcorn, laugh, cry, you know, [00:45:00] cheer. And if you see a tornado run like hell, yeah, it's one of

[:

[00:45:08] Sherry: And most of them don't.

[:

[00:45:26] Phil: Yeah.

[:

[00:45:31] Phil: Nature will kick your ass in a heartbeat and

[:

[00:45:34] Phil: Not even notice. You're nothing to us to nature. Anyway. Recommend. Yeah.

[:

[00:45:39] Phil: Yeah. Me too. I recommend also it's got good visuals. It's a lot of

[:

[00:45:44] Chris: So I was thinking about is this like, was this bill Paxton's precious that earlier, but like, was this his first lead? Like he'd been in a lot of stuff.

[:

[00:45:51] Chris: time he was took on the lead role. Right. Might be. One even yeah, I don't know. I think it was the

[:

[00:45:58] Chris: That's a great

[:

[00:46:00] Chris: Right these million movies, but yeah, and this is he's the awesome supporting

[:

[00:46:10] Chris: aliens and I'm stone Well

[:

[00:46:14] Chris: twister today, that's four. I think that puts there another lead

[:

[00:46:20] Phil: Yeah. Yeah. But, this is the fourth movie with him that we did at random, so that is even more significant. We were, and we did Terminator 2, not 1. [00:46:30] Right.

[:

[00:46:42] James: Well, speaking of that, like, he's like one of the only guys that's been killed by, by like a Terminator, a Predator, an Alien. Yeah. And so, Apollo 13 and then Twister, so, yeah. Yeah. I think we got it. Nice. Sweet.

[:

[00:46:57] James: It's a good one. Good

[:

[00:47:01] James: can't sing Oklahoma in Texas.

[:

[00:47:04] Phil: then you sing it

[:

[00:47:09] Phil: Cause when it came out, the audience loved the shit out of it. Oh yeah, we did.

[:

[00:47:21] Sherry: Really? Oh my gosh. Harry

[:

[00:47:25] Sherry: Yeah. I thought it worked.

[:

[00:47:31] James: Yeah, they're crazies match. Right. For sure. Right.

About your hosts

Philip McClimon

Profile picture for Philip McClimon
Philip A. McClimon is an author who likes to write about the end of the world (post apocalyptic, Sci/Fi), mostly because he thinks the shopping would be awesome (No crowds, everything free). He likes heroes that are the strong, silent type and not necessarily male. By silent he means up until the time there is something snarky to say, usually before, during, and after doing something cool.

He writes Urban Fantasy under the name Billy Baltimore for no other reason than that he likes the name. Many of the same rules for his other stories apply to Billy’s, strong silent types, smart mouth, does cool stuff, but these stories take place in a made up town called Hemisphere and involve stuff you only ever hear about on late night conspiracy talk show podcasts, which are, if you think about it, pretty awesome too.

So, that's Phil. He's not strong, rarely silent, and isn't known for doing a lot of cool things.

But his characters are.

Sherry McClimon

Profile picture for Sherry McClimon
The wife of Philip McClimon. Probably all that needs to be said. She is responsible for his bad behavior not being worse than it is. She is concerned that her mother might listen.

James Harris

Profile picture for James Harris
James Harris is a tech guru and musician extraordinaire; he also loves movies. A pretty decent guy all around.

Chris Sapp

Profile picture for Chris Sapp
Chris Sapp has been a friend for a lot of years and a writer for a lot more. An encyclopedic knowledge of story and movies, he can take you on a deep dive into script and screen. Another pretty decent guy, which are the only kind allowed around here.
