0:20

0:26

0:31

page Fellowship of the real from all of us at Fellowship of the real thanks for listening okay on with the

0:38

show at this point in the movie I'm like okay well here's here's what you should have done and I'm thinking yeah right

0:45

my favorite openings ever and I've watched that alternate ending and it is garbage it doesn't go where you think

0:53

it's going to go there's a monster I am I'm ready for it to be over well but I'm

0:59

not sure I can even fully uh explain why I love this movie so much [Music]

1:06

my feelings on it have not changed I fell asleep until the screaming this

1:12

is actually where I started enjoying the movie is one of my favorite scenes in all of Cinema

1:18

I thought that should have been cut well I'm sure it's artistic and you just

1:23

don't get it all right so this is a fellowship of the Reel this will be uh the first official

1:28

episode of season two yay so uh we did what 16 uh movies for season one we

1:34

stopped for the holidays we've got to do 116 this number yeah so one a day for do what we do that's what we're gonna do

1:40

yeah so 365 movies next oh [ __ ] uh and this pick uh first that's season

1:47

four when we're like this is our job you know right right uh hopefully right yes

1:53

if you would send us 50k we'll give you 10K just give you the 50k uh this is what Sherry's pick yes this

2:00

was The Wedding Singer now we all have our comfort movies okay so for me I

2:05

think maybe this is Sherry's Big Lebowski like Big Lebowski I've seen hundreds of times and I think maybe

2:11

Sherry has seen this one at least that many yeah at least once a month I'll probably turn it on and

2:18

listen to it okay just to have it in the background well what what I'd like to do

2:23

is turn it on and sing along sure with the songs

2:28

yeah you all what you get with a Sandler movie is usually uh a great soundtrack uh Sandler

2:35

uh me and Sherry are a little bit older than Chris and James and so Sandler is essentially a little bit older I'm sorry

2:43

Sandler is uh essentially Our Generation so we watch these movies and stanler is

2:49

putting stuff in there that that uh you know is our time frameless all this music of course you know this kind of

2:54

's supposed to takes place in:

3:01

graduated in 86. and I think Adam Sandler graduated a year before me so

3:06

before I think he's like a year or yeah a year older than me yeah James and I

3:12

were four and two right yeah thanks something like that yeah hey I thought we were going around tables and how old

3:17

we were we just graduated like diapers and stuff you know all right me and Phil at the same time were probably pooping

3:24

our pants that's true yeah James because he hadn't

3:29

learned yet me because I forgot that's awesome that obviously will be

3:35

deleted so yeah I'm teasing that's a bumper right now poop's funny the poop is funny uh Everybody Poops no that's

3:41

that's that's that's a bumper that whole exchange right there is going in somewhere uh my goodness as the podcast grinds too

3:49

hard okay oh yeah so she has interwebs and phones again oh yeah that's right all right so

3:55

the Wedding Singer uh money critics fans okay so I would have expected this to be

4:00

higher uh it's not bad numbers but I would have expected to be higher because because this movie is a cult classic I

4:05

think I mean I've seen it a bunch of times people who love this movie love it uh Tomato Meter 69 percent

4:12

of the critics gave it three and a half stars or above and eighty percent of the audience gave it three and a half Stars

4:18

Above So 69 of fans of critics liked it and 80 of the fans liked it which to me

4:24

I think it should be higher uh you know well if you look at the box office that's that's crazy numbers for that

4:32

kind of rating I would think and oh yeah oh no this is one of uh Adam Sandler's

4:37

kind of most well-regarded films yeah it's yeah it's a an earlier film but yes uh the uh budget was just 18 million

4:46

dollars uh it made that it's opening weekend okay so 18 million dollars

4:51

opening weekend 18 million 685 000 865 000 18 million it made us money

4:58

back the first day first weekend uh domestically it went on to make 80 80

5:03

000 and then worldwide 80 million 80 million domestic it's 80 million two

5:09

hundred forty five thousand dollars uh International 43 million for a worldwide

5:14

of 123 million dollars on an 18 million dollar budget that's gigantic yeah that's that's well he hires all his

5:21

friends too to be in yeah that I was gonna I was gonna bring that up the guy that wrote this Tim Hurley he sorry Tim

5:28

Hurley that's her name uh did The Wedding Singer pixels Happy Gilmore Hubie Halloween it was an easier he

5:36

wrote These he wrote These he wrote These so he's the writer Mr Deeds Little Nicky all of these are Adam's yeah

5:42

Halloween that's a Sandler right yeah yeah Halloween I recommend it but uh

5:47

anyway I do not yeah I was all of all of Adam Sandler's movies that you've seen this guy wrote so as far as him hiring

5:54

his friends it's basically uh the Adam Sandler movie company and

6:01

yeah you got the synopsis yeah can I go and read it because my phone's about to die okay okay

6:07

um set in:

6:13

one of the most romantic jobs in the world or who's stuck and one of the most romantic jobs in the

6:19

world A Wedding Singer he loses all hope when he is abandoned at the altar by his fiancee he meets a young woman named

6:26

Julia who is played by Drew Barrymore who enlists his help to plan her wedding he falls in love with her and must win

6:33

her over before she gets married yeah uh again um

6:39

this movie gets you in the fields I think well it definitely does yeah I do have feelings we haven't reviewed a

6:46

romantic comedy or talk about one not yet yeah she's right this is her first

6:52

since they were saying oh dear what is she gonna pick next I thought well I'm going to pick a romantic comedy but I'm

6:59

gonna pick one that I yeah I think that everyone no no absolutely well technically we wanted

7:05

to say that blind date was a romantic comedy but I called it a monster in the house and I think it is just because you

7:12

know she's anyway you can check out that review there is some debate whether it

7:17

wasn't funny either so yeah but it tried to be anyway you can check out our review of that

7:22

um anyway but yeah so I think season one right this is uh yeah so I think this is

7:29

the first bona fide romantic comedy yeah that we uh yeah which which um she was

7:34

asking me what the genre was and and Blake Snyder doesn't have a romantic comedy genre but I I want to call this

7:40

buddy love because he it it's the idea of two people uh and you can he he wants

7:45

to say you can have a two-hander which is two people or a three-hander which is a triangle or two couples which is a forehander so he calls it buddy love but

7:54

that is a broad definition to include say like Lethal Weapon and uh Harry Met Sally I think he includes those as buddy

8:01

loves for a recap just you want to run through the three requirements for everybody love yeah um so he doesn't

8:06

have a romantic comedy category yeah like romantic comedies and to what you're saying romantic comedies and

8:12

buddy cop movies are the same genre according to Blake starter yeah same stuff all under buddy love interesting

8:18

yeah um you'll see

8:23

okay so are you in love with your buddy buddy love it's about an incomplete hero who is missing something physical

8:29

ethical or spiritual so an incomplete hero a counterpart who makes the completion come about uh or in the case

8:36

of a three-hander story about a triangle or a forehand or story about two couples has qualities the heroes need and a

8:41

complication be it a misunderstanding personal or ethical this kind of thing so I think if you uh are having a

8:48

romantic comedy which is I think what this is it's going to be a buddy love yeah we're like we take and I'm sure

8:53

we'll review it at some point but like lead the weapon right like Martin Riggs is the incomplete hero and Martin uh

8:59

Roger Myrtle completes him right yes uh I was in their complication is them having to work together the the young

9:06

Rogue you know yeah the old by the old school by the book guy yes there there

9:11

is I'd have to go back and read it but if I remember Snyder almost wants to say that uh murtal is incomplete because

9:17

he's he hits a two-hander two-hander yeah I was trying to symbolize they complimented because Murtaugh was in the tub and he's I'm ready for retirement

9:24

you know I'm gray in the beard and and uh yeah Riggs craziness makes him young again yes and then and and murtal makes

9:31

rigs not so crazy you guys got me fired up what movie are we reviewing here Lethal Weapon the the the lethal Wedding

9:39

Singer yes John Wick meets that's right maybe only

9:46

two or three guys in the whole world could sing a song like that you know it's the only thing I was ever good at anyway

9:54

ah okay so there's a bumper for you yeah there you go um bullets guts and wedding cake that's

10:00

right that is your tagline uh blood all the icing

10:05

oh we write a movie right now all right uh so um we're good with the intro on Wedding

10:10

Singer uh this is a cult movie Sherry's seen it a million times is it a cult movie Cole has a big cult following

10:17

um well I don't I I because it was successful out of the gate I would say yeah it can't be

10:24

successful by definition yeah yeah because it did make a [ __ ] ton of money yeah so definitely still stands the test

10:29

yeah it's it's it's people's at least one person's favorite movie one of you

10:35

know Sherry has seen it a bunch of times I liken it to the big little bounce I've seen a Big Lebowski a million times so

10:40

this is her Big Lebowski maybe yeah 98. okay I I don't even remember it

10:46

going coming out to the theaters yeah I didn't see it in theater yeah and uh

10:51

well this one this one oh this one okay okay yeah reviewing that's going to be the theme

10:57

of season two what movie are we reviewing just playing all right all right yeah we saw a winning singer and

11:02

yeah since I've seen a lot I don't think we've seen it a million times I mean I don't think I can classify it as one of my comfort movies but we've seen it a

11:09

lot and realized that very quickly when we started watching it and we were saying all the damn lines you know sure yeah it's one of those movies that sneak

11:15

into your subconscious yes yeah we we watch this and then she was like let's watch it again I'm like right now yeah

11:22

let's just put it on again and when I hear some of the songs on the radio I'm sitting there going I'd rather hear Adam

11:27

Sandler sing that than yeah now Santa's got chops musically yeah oh yeah yeah

11:33

absolutely and like I said I listened to it half the time for the music yes uh him and um

11:41

the nature who uh Jimmy Fallon Jimmy Fallon his impersonations like he does

11:46

Neil Young does a very good job oh my God yeah he's also amazing anyway uh all

11:52

right so Wedding Singer uh what movie are we reviewing sorry we are reviewing a movie this time right

11:58

see that's 12 minutes we could just cut right out all right opening image uh now

12:03

I did find that the structure was a little squishy in places but and and and

12:09

and I I reviewed it according to Buddy Love genre there is a hard and fast

12:14

romantic comedy genre uh that is very very structured I did not review it according to romantic comedy beats but

12:21

that is a another way to look at it but romantic comedies have a rock solid

12:27

structure uh I mean down to the second uh and and very very tight so I don't

12:33

know if this meets that we looking at it from this particular kind of structure

12:38

and excuse me it seems a little squishy not totally bad but a little squishy uh

12:46

so I have is my opening image um a Wedding Singer at the top of his

12:51

game content this is my opinion Chris and the others obviously will say what they think top of this game content with

12:57

where he thinks he is supposed to be and with who he is supposed to be with when this movie opens he is he is the red hot

13:03

Wedding Singer man and you know you're a good wedding sir that's a good Wedding Singer you know he saves the great singer he's keeping couples together

13:10

he's helping kids throw up he's he's fixing to being he is everywhere he thinks he he thinks his life is set well

13:16

he took Steve Buscemi who was drunk given the speech like all right buddy and he he gracefully got that out of

13:23

there got the wedding back up yeah he was on top of his game yes so he Adam playing guitar now

13:30

self-taught self-taught no lessons you're a [ __ ]

13:36

I'm a person too pop it's a great movie it really is a great

13:42

movie all right another A-list actor that's like giving it is all you know yeah it did his own singing and everything

13:50

like oh yeah at the end at the end yeah yeah yeah yeah I can't say but yeah that's him

13:56

there you go thank you James through it's it's true yeah when I hear it on the radio I still think that's stupid at

14:04

the end yeah really yeah that's really him singing in the movie not the real song right no but uh in the movies the

14:10

movie singing yeah because he's a Wedding Singer at the end or whatever or at least I don't know if he's an actual word but he's up there on stage singing

14:15

does that mean yes yes did I miss this how did I miss it at the very end at the wedding yeah at the wedding and John

14:21

Lovitz in the middle he does his own singing in that middle business yes yes he's he's the man he's The

14:29

Wedding Singer at the end all right yeah because the the it fades out on the you hear me see me singing

14:36

Robbie and Julia or whatever and okay the camera you know irises out on them did you watch this

14:42

I remember them I've been fading out on on Bobby and Julia but uh and that's

14:47

Stephen singing yes correct oh my God they show him okay I guess at that point I'm

14:53

self-taught no lessons yeah okay all right we'll have to go back because I've seen it a bunch of times I

14:59

guess I never I guess I'm always just you know shutting it down yeah maybe your eyes are really blurry because

15:04

you're crying he's looking for the tissues yeah yeah at that point I'm always looking for the clinic side

15:09

uh set up all right so that's my opening I agree with it you know he's I just wrote down like optimistic you know he's

15:15

romantic like he's you know yeah he's he's kind he he's helping others but he believes in

15:22

love 100 at this point oh you're on he does not yeah he thinks he's everywhere he needs to be all right the setup uh a

15:30

good winning singer a stable life engaged the unsung hero helps everyone uh Julia Sullivan a waitress a bit lost

15:36

herself engaged to someone less than worthy uh that we know maybe she doesn't completely know it yet uh I wrote doing

15:43

all the work in the relationship and I think I think she suspects but doesn't want to admit

15:49

that it's as bad as it is yet uh well because it's a it's a sure thing because

15:54

he's got money he's got sure and and and yes secure security yeah right uh

16:01

Robbie's fiance Linda leaves him at the altar and now he goes into a spiral and I thought maybe this one oh we can't

16:06

just skip over that like that so it was a bad note oh yeah yeah there was a note

16:12

she said she's not coming I I hated she's not coming so it was a bad news

16:17

right um yes he smashes the mirror or whatever when

16:23

he's in there and then you hear like the the audience reaction like I don't like a noses before like they're like they cringe like something really horrible

16:29

happened somebody died or something and what's his name uh The Boy George wannabe starts crying oh yeah it's just

16:35

Georgia yes George yeah yeah I think uh Alexis Arquette yeah you skipped that too on the setup when uh he's in there

16:41

uh no he knows the one song hey man you got to get back in they're turning on George turn on George George Lee thought

16:47

that was funny that he just knew the ones off yeah yeah and that's a I thought cat that's right that's the Alexis Arquette the Arquette family and

16:54

we did scream with her oh yeah David and another another link Alexis

17:00

do True Romance so we can get oh Patricia Drew Barrymore was in Scream too oh my

17:07

goodness oh yes she was very nice yes oh yeah that's true yeah Seven Degrees

17:14

of Separation here yeah uh yeah uh our kid in True Romance oh my God okay so uh

17:22

speaking of what movie are we reviewing [Laughter]

17:29

Six Degrees of Separation you know your sister met Adam Sandler yeah Hawaii well

17:35

they were in Hawaii uh I guess Debbie was there whatever and at a luau they

17:40

met him and um and then they did uh oh can I have your audience yeah yeah yeah and how'd that go yeah they got I mean I

17:47

guess they got pictures with them and they were they were nice to him I mean all right because they weren't dicks or nothing good no no no no no it was a

17:53

different answer we wouldn't be you know doing the rest of this podcast from this episode no I I think Taylor but no he

17:59

was a good guess that's good yeah no I I think he probably would have preferred to be left alone sure but they were very

18:05

understanding yeah nice about uh David Spade and Adam Sandler David Spade the

18:10

pitcher looked like he really enjoyed it Tuesday probably he was probably let's do another you know yeah

18:15

he was just happy to be in the room damn uh David Spade's great no he is

18:22

uh Robbie's Fountain leaves him at the office so I thought that initially was the Catalyst but I don't I'm not pegging

18:27

it as the Catalyst yet I think it's still his ordinary world that would be his one of his bumps right his Call to

18:33

um do what you're supposed to do maybe because I think the call to action okay in a romantic comedy the the the

18:40

call to action is always going to be the call to love and it doesn't really start hooking up or pursuing

18:46

Julia gulia until a little bit you know what I'm saying that this is where I thought it was squishy because

18:53

I feel like his call to action has to be Julia he has to be you know that's

18:58

that's going to be his motivation that's going to be what he wants what he's going to be after there's going to be setbacks you know the storming of the castle is

19:04

going to be going together so uh that's why I didn't peg this as the Catalyst Chris you got yeah I had I had

19:11

that is I mean yeah he gets dumped at the altar like here's this guy who's hopefully romantic he thinks his life is set like you said earlier yeah I have

19:17

that as a catalyst he gets he gets dumped because after that it's the like the whole debate thing I can't do it

19:24

anymore it can't be a Wedding Singer like he tries and I'm jumping ahead but the whole I Love Stinks bit which is very very funny and very clever and

19:30

that's one of my favorites yeah uh right because he's trying to do his job that he used to that he used to love and then

19:36

the Dad's getting [ __ ] pissed because he's doing a terrible job at it but uh he's he's losing his mind

19:42

being all the benefits right yes yes I'm calling all this is to your

19:47

point he does not fall in love with Julia until later I mean they've already met and all that stuff but yeah had he not met Julie he'd have stayed in the

19:53

Beast story right if you look at it from catboy's stuff she's Beast Boy which is 30 right page 30 you know down the road

20:00

not but yeah romantic comedy yeah it's it's going to be the phone and look but yeah all right all right so I think uh

20:07

all right I can see I can I can buy that uh he does he does have this conversation

20:15

with Linda Linda shows up uh and explains why she didn't want to marry

20:21

him we can wait no I don't want to ever marry you you were a rock star and you know you're a Wedding Singer I'm in love

20:26

with Robbie five years ago or whatever you you come to the realization that yeah Adam Sandler was crushing it in

20:31

life here yeah but he came from somewhere else and she fell in love with

20:37

the rock star rock that was going to be going up and all that she hoped yeah which means she was in love with a

20:43

potential lifestyle not a person yeah and that on a personal note that hit me

20:48

pretty hard yeah I I I I was the presidents of Christmas time didn't do it but this did okay yeah all right I do

20:55

have a little bit of a heart yeah I could see that yeah but see but see your history pretty much yeah yeah

21:02

uh but Robbie is happy in his town happy in his life uh Linda wanting out of the

21:09

town and out of her life right and she thought Robert why you want to move all of our friends are here right so he's he

21:15

is content he because he's going to be portrayed as this person who doesn't put a high value he's almost like the Keanu

21:22

Reeves type character he doesn't put a lot of value on material possessions or wealth to to him love and friends and a

21:29

good place to live these are what matters to him yeah and and making a little bit of money is and honestly

21:35

Wedding Singer is a damn good game I can imagine taking a lot of money yeah but I mean just um like he doesn't care about

21:42

the money because he's teaching the the old ladies Betty White which is not her

21:47

um but he's getting paid in meatballs yeah and and Happy's a good meatball yeah that's a good meme she puts him in

21:52

his freaking hands yes um so this this is why I think it's still his Ordinary World his his setup

21:59

okay now uh which I but I fully understand what you're saying uh the Catalyst I'm calling uh they go to the

22:07

the pre-engagement party of Julius and at that party they sort of uh have fun

22:13

together and so it's almost at that point that his radar starts triggering

22:18

that there's because they have a lot of fun together and they really connect and to me this sets him on the path of

22:24

Julia now he isn't fully when the Buddies dressed up with Michael Jackson yes right yeah yeah yeah and then the

22:30

Glenn's buddy uh oh I heard about you you're uh yeah you got left at your wedding yeah how was that or whatever

22:36

you know I feel great thanks for bringing it up yeah my parents died when I was like oh you want to talk about that yes okay making sure I remember the

22:43

scene right absolutely um [Music]

22:53

the Catalyst at the engagement party they sort of connect yeah uh and to me

22:59

this is okay now she's coming to his life he is going to start turning more of his attention towards her after this

23:06

point he didn't even want to go to that party so yeah his friend talked him into it yeah so she was not on his mind at

23:12

that point until so in terms of maybe the The Love Stinks later is that before

23:17

this I think it's I think it's after this after this yeah yeah because she's there at that because that's when she asked

23:23

him right or is it before the Love Stinks as before before she sees him having a hard time yeah yeah he's like

23:31

okay will you help me do this okay because she says that's what she asked him you have to sing at my wedding and

23:36

yeah because we set a date and he says like I don't know she said well at least come to my party yeah my engagement

23:41

party okay thank you okay I I didn't write that I did write down just before this Holly not saying the warning signs

23:47

because Glenn is this stuff matters to you it doesn't matter to me you plan the wedding you know this so he's just checked out big wedding he wants a small

23:54

wedding yeah yeah I owe it to her later we'll find so he's a complete douche but

23:59

Holly's not seeing these warning signs yet uh but I think she's sensing them all right so at the engagement party

24:05

they connect so that's where I'm calling it but I can definitely see there's no bigger Catalyst than being left at the

24:11

altar so it'd be hard to argue against that um so I guess he's doing away so at the

24:18

okay so it's that no it's not Julius but he's at a wedding right and um the kid who because he's no longer a

24:25

Wedding Singer it's a bar mitzvah yeah oh Bar Mitzvah okay all right all right because he tries to do The Wedding Singer thing and it ends up with the

24:31

whole Love Stinks I completely thrown him the gutter at the end yeah yeah so now he's doing bar mitzvahs and stuff

24:37

there's like three Jewish people in this town or whatever right right but him and Julia have teamed up uh a contrivance to

24:45

get this kid to dance with her to boost his cough so so again he's better at the pre-engagement and now they're sort of

24:51

tag teaming and and interacting with each other right uh and both are

24:57

charitable and helpful to this kid and so you can see clearly they're they're they're a great losery kid in this whole

25:04

world and and so this is why I think this is his sort of catalystic Call to Adventure if if it's a romance uh but

25:12

like you said no bigger Rock has dropped in your pond than than your fiance

25:17

leaving you at the altar so I guess I could see that uh at the wedding teaming up to help with the kid now she wants so

25:24

she's now trying to rope him in closer help me plan my wedding I don't want to

25:30

so he's almost debating at that point I can't do that no that's not you know but she's like well no one else will help me

25:36

and blah blah blah so uh they wind up working together to plan her wedding

25:41

again now they're moving closer in each other's circles yeah that's what happens is breaking into because like you said I

25:46

definitely saw the debate and then he agrees you know he doesn't yeah I didn't want to I mean he's not even being a wedding suit anymore he's doing bar

25:52

mitzvahs and stuff yes uh I think I didn't I might I didn't write down the heady but I think that's where I have it

25:58

also because then I have the fun and games after at the wedding teaming up can't help with the wedding is debating but then then he he does decide to help

26:06

her so I see that as as a break into two uh they're confused as a couple they're talking maybe to the caterer the older

26:11

woman and she thinks they're a couple yeah yeah and we're brother and sister the photographer yeah say she knows but

26:18

but the the they're confused as a couple facts right sir uh confused as a couple and then they

26:24

wind up you know horsing around together and our brother and sister so right away you can see these two they may not know

26:30

it but other people see it you know they have a connection yeah they'd probably be in uh and uh oh my gosh Linda didn't

26:36

have it and then yeah and and uh all the couples that she refers to and I know y'all were too

26:42

young that was very funny they all break up though yes I know y'all are too young for to know who these people were but

26:48

yeah I remember back in the day when all these people you know like um Donald and Ivana oh you know all the

26:55

ones that oh yeah they did eventually she doesn't say that too and that one of the couples should mentioned no that's Sonny and sure no maybe I don't remember

27:02

I just remember all those couples I'm sitting there laughing Bert and Lonnie yeah they all okay that's funny

27:09

all right so uh so now we're into the fun and games right so I just uh just listed them and

27:17

we can obviously want to talk about any of them hiring Decatur The Wedding Singer uh Robbie song uh somebody kill

27:24

me I love that the whole yes uh just so you know I was listening to the cure a lot whenever

27:29

part of it when I was with Linda and part of what I was after and now there's the close-up on on Sandler when he's you

27:36

know please feel it you know like he he was selling I mean he's like screaming his

27:41

eyes are watering because he's just screaming you know and jubilant Drew Barrymore helps

27:48

sell it too you can see her feel his pain yeah sure you know it's funny and you're laughing like it's yeah yes uh

27:54

John Levitz does not feel for him no no he's uh uh sophisticated that whole

28:00

thing I love it man uh yeah

28:06

thank you I just think I'm jealous you just you just helped me you just uh helped me be convinced to hire a DJ you

28:13

know right well good luck hiring a DJ can move like this you know and they move like this it's good at all uh

28:22

picking desserts and dresses the limit driver the test kiss and then the double date or what I'm listing is uh the uh

28:30

funny games you hit like three cones this could have been what do you guess that are guests at her wedding yeah yeah

28:36

we always always cool they're cones I think that's the way he says it it says yeah yeah every time that comes on

28:44

we're always saying they're cones with them you know uh yeah it's funny that uh because that's

28:50

one of the parts we quote as well so it's interesting how that it becomes a scrotable you know one of

28:56

the quotes you pulled from this movie yeah yeah because it's like it's not particularly witty or original they're

29:01

raccoons it's got to be his delivery of course I'm gonna hire him he's the only he's your friend he's only driving down

29:07

you know but they're basically [ __ ] with him because you know yeah right unfortunately through the stupid obstacle course you're not gonna make it

29:14

man throwing them in there and yeah poor guy yeah it's one of those things that I

29:19

if I were to quote in public I wonder if anyone would know what I'm saying that's what yeah right that'll be fun if they

29:25

didn't tell me the experiment just start walking around going never comes you know if I see him cones in the road so

29:31

that guy is the um he was the caddy in Happy Gilmore is that right yeah yeah because he's standing there with no

29:38

pants on and stuff yeah if you've ever seen Grandma's Boy that one is it's an

29:43

Adam Sandler happy Madison production Adam Sandler's not in it yeah but it's got him in it Nick Swardson uh wait the

29:52

grandma from Everybody Loves Raymond did I forget her name oh yeah it is hilarious all right uh

29:59

yeah he's in a lot of Adam Sandler movies yeah yes and and the critics sort of

30:04

uh this movie because it it seems sappy Adam Sandler plays a very sweet guy yeah you know so

30:11

it was a bad note you know that whole but he's he's uh even at the end you know uh that song was for you you know

30:18

he's very sweet yeah no like he's he's different completely like different uh

30:24

from uh from Happy Gilbert oh yeah he's no happy character yeah right even Billy Madison for that better yeah well that

30:31

is the very reason that I will now watch or this movie is the very reason I will now watch Adam Sandler movies going

30:38

forward nice before I you had to win interesting no I liked him on SNL

30:46

but some of his movies I'm like I can't take this I I can't the you know when he

30:53

was singing that song um that you were talking about with um he's screaming yeah somebody kill me please yeah okay I'm like okay that's

31:00

kind of like a throwback to me of some of his older stuff and I think that's why you know I've heard people say I

31:07

just can't watch any Adam Sandler movies I'm like not even The Wedding Singer because you know once I watch that

31:12

because I even like his movie that's on Netflix yeah with what is it Jennifer Aniston is she the murder mystery or

31:19

whatever yeah yeah they went to Hawaii right yeah yeah the um

31:27

and so I think starting with this one I guess is where I thought okay I like I

31:34

like Adam Sandler in this type of show yeah I feel like he started to Branch out at this point because he had done you know the Happy Gilmore and family

31:40

medicine and uh I think he's already done Waterboy which is slightly different too as far as well he's uh but

31:46

yeah he's starting to Branch out a little bit I think this was his first ROM comb for sure yeah but he's got as he's matured he's got some chops because

31:52

he's in that crime drama I think it's on Netflix that's the one I was talking about okay friends no no no no he's on a

31:59

serious yeah it's uncut gems yeah you know he's very good oh very good gyms

32:05

murder mystery with Jennifer Aniston yes that's the one I'm talking about gems is no rom-com no no no I haven't seen it

32:11

but I think it's a serious edgy drama yes it is very much so yeah he's addicted to gambling and his performance

32:16

is badass yeah yeah oh I need to watch and then the one with the hustle where he's uh of scout or

32:23

whatever from basketball I want to see that like both those are in my queue I need to see those uh absolutely

32:29

um waterboy and Wedding Singer came out the same year Wedding Singer was supposed to come out in 97 but it came

32:34

out 98 Waterboy came out football season of 98. yeah all right okay I was

32:39

thinking wonder what was before I don't know what man because it was but I was thinking it was like a year they were all right there together I think Adam Sandler had uh once once a year from

32:49

like 94 95 97 like what did that I don't know and like I said I didn't see this when it first came out I don't know how

32:56

long it took me to watch it because like I said I'm like yeah it's interesting well yeah and I don't think about what

33:02

you were saying and I didn't think about until you said it but like there are moments of like his his other characters like when he's talking to Linda and

33:09

she's explaining to him about why you know she didn't want to be with him he's like once again information that could have been useful to me yesterday yeah

33:16

it very much reminded me of Happy Gilmore yeah yes yeah absolutely all

33:21

right but still The Love Stinks I I would watch that scene over and over because when he says to the bride and

33:27

groom I hate you oh my gosh how to use her and I will string you

33:34

with my microphone yeah do you understand me what does he say you will listen to me because I have that

33:40

microphone you will listen to every word I damn what I have to say right he is he

33:45

can do the rage uh sideburns over here yeah yeah the the

33:53

the the what is it it talks about the table the um and the mutants the table mats yes

33:59

oh my God uh this guy can't just can't wait to get another something to eat or

34:05

whatever you know anyway uh all right so uh the double date and and at this point

34:11

he is starting to want to protect and defend Julia you know uh baiting Glenn

34:17

into confessing that he's a cheater and yeah and this kind of thing uh that and just the the before that like when

34:24

they're all there and they're all singing the the Bowie song and then Glenn doesn't know okay we all know the words yeah yeah just establishing that

34:30

he's outside of their yes and uh again you know hitting on hitting on the

34:36

standards right so uh the test kiss uh both of them are like in a fog you know the Brooklyn Julia's face after the kiss

34:42

you know that they have to be shaken back into I just brought to the jacket you know so

34:49

clearly you know they are being brought into each other's universes uh

34:54

Glenn takes Julia home but Julia says I think I throw up in my head it's my hair

35:00

stinking he smells and he says no it smells great you know they are and that's and it is sappy and I think

35:06

Craig's right it is happy but it's it's good sappy I you know I don't know why sappy it can be turned into melodrama

35:13

sure but you viewed you're on board with these characters man okay as far as romantic comedies go it's I'd rather see

35:21

this than some of those really really sappy ones sure it's just not soap operas you're really sad you mean

35:27

anything on homework oh oh yeah yeah I don't just don't watch homework yeah those are uh because because

35:35

you want to believe in love and you want to believe in sweet sweet love and uh yeah you want to you want to believe

35:41

that that kind of thing can happen and so you see it and they're they're hitting on stuff that they know is going

35:47

to get you right you know I think it works I don't know yeah I agree absolutely does um so I have a phone

35:52

it's funny I have a yes and it is funny I have a midpoint false defeat uh I don't know what you

35:59

have Chris he's um he realizes he's never going to get Julia she just wants money and he'd like and there's the

36:05

scene where he actually lashes out at her I am an [ __ ] yeah right uh uh goes off doesn't he so now he thinks

36:13

he's gonna there's a lot of money out there and I want some of it you know I'm a material girl boy right yeah I

36:21

have a jar of money on my refrigerator I would like to add more money to it that's where you come in

36:26

that's right the best interview ever yeah I wish Kevin Nigel and had been in

36:31

it longer yeah I like him yes yes so

36:37

so this is uh a false defeat um what did is that what you have where I think that's what I had yeah yeah uh yeah he

36:44

he is not going to get Julia uh bad guys close in and so at this point like I

36:50

said some of the beats are either glossed over or or a little squishy

36:55

um because it is a shorter movie our I think comes in about an hour and a half or whatever which is 37 I believe yeah

37:02

right where James likes one yes and and movies like this yes and the appropriate time for a romance a rom-com that's

37:08

about right you're gonna get in you're gonna have you can hit your beats fast and it they're usually about an hour and a half yeah nobody's gonna sit through a

37:14

three-hour rom-com I don't think yes I uh right rom-coms rom-coms are some of the smartest movies made from a

37:21

structural and writing point because they are you could time a clock to these things right right now whether this

37:26

holds up to that I I didn't analyze it that way but generally rom-coms are the tightest

37:32

structure and most well-written movies agreed out there um uh so bad guys close in uh he has

37:39

this conversation with his with his friend in the bar I'm gonna be like you man we're just gonna you know we're gonna be free and easy and happy he says

37:47

I'm not happy I'm miserable I just want somebody to hold me yeah that is printed it figured out but yes but it's a veneer

37:53

and then the old guy comes over and holds him yes yeah yes come but uh the bad guys closed in I have is those who

37:59

seem happy getting lots of chicks are lonely and miserable so the the reality is starting to set in all that happiness

38:06

is not real happiness uh so I then immediately haven't always lost false Victory because like I said I don't

38:11

think there's a lot of materials spent on that beat I think it moves very quickly what you're always

38:17

lost like always lost false Victory uh at I guess almost in that bar as well or

38:23

maybe it's later or anyway he uh he knows he loves her he's gonna go get her he makes the decision no I'm going to

38:29

get it yeah after the bar he tells him you know this life is terrible yeah you know go for it go go get her basically

38:36

what his friends that's before he gets punched in the nose yeah yeah yes yes because he comes back to the bar and

38:42

then he sees Glenn yeah outside yes oh yeah yeah doing that tour man yeah right right yeah cause that's what yeah okay

38:48

yeah I had the same thing yeah because he goes to to um and I guess a classic misunderstanding scenario he goes to you

38:56

know confess his love to her and he sees her all happy yeah in the wedding yes gown not knowing that she's talking about him yes that's when she realizes

39:02

the the Julia Ghoulia thing that he had already yeah you know yeah uh

39:08

um Lin gulia and I think he would have used his last name I think he would have Queen Glenn's clock had not old guy

39:13

gotten and oh I'm sorry I'm not as strong as though you've got sucker punches but you know I think Adam that

39:19

Robbie at this point is just pissed off to take it you know and if he had a hockey stick for sure yeah I was in a

39:26

fight a five year but I kicked his ass I'm gonna kick your ass too I think he would have gone yeah you know yeah no I was looking forward to that and then

39:32

yeah they you cannot have Robbie kicking his ass at this point right uh Robbie is

39:37

the sweet guy who's always going to lose until he wins right you could write a song about this it's called I got

39:42

punched in the nose for sticking it in other people's business yeah that's like probably my favorite Glenn scene yeah like Louise yeah with his body yes yeah

39:49

well they hit that dick uh somebody calls uh the the girlfriend of Julia

39:55

calls him Don Johnson and later when they're picking up Julie the car opens and it's the theme song to Miami Vice I

40:01

missed that yeah yes yeah I knew he was dressing like him of course yeah well he thinks yeah and then they referenced the

40:07

he's gonna miss Miami Vice he's like nope I'm upset I'm gonna rerun summer yeah yeah right totally missed the point

40:15

that you're being called a douche you know right right um all his lost false Victory so he's the false Victory is he knows he loves

40:21

her and he's going to go get her and he thinks it's going to work I'm gonna convince her and I you know I think she loves me too and off I go Dark Knight of

40:27

the Soul sees her and misinterprets her actions gets sucker punched by Glenn so that's where I'm having my Dark Knight

40:32

of the Soul uh because he sleeps because because Linda comes back yeah and no I don't do

40:39

not sleep together no yeah I don't think they do he's he's well he passes out yes he did and I think that's why they have

40:45

to pass out in the yard because he's yeah yeah the show that he set it up that he does not you know end up sleeping with him yes but uh but yeah

40:51

but she makes Julia think so yes Julia again misinterprets comes by to tell him

40:57

the same thing yes which is cool and which is a classic ROM comes they miss each other right yeah yeah and well uh

41:04

in that scene where she's wearing the Van Halen shirt you know take my shirt off before the band breaks it thinks the band and they break up uh you're going

41:10

back to when they're at the Double dates and they all know the words to David Bowie's China girl yeah the whatever her

41:18

name was Linda yeah it was she sings the wrong words to Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go yes oh nice I missed that yeah if

41:26

you it's wake me up before you go go don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo she says don't leave me hanging up I

41:32

think he says yeah yes it drives me crazy every time because it's wrong so everybody knows the right words but her

41:38

but her yes all the douchebags don't know the right words like Glenn didn't know the word she doesn't know yeah right yeah nice no that's good that is

41:44

good yeah uh at this point Julia now will she almost has the same [ __ ] yeah

41:51

she almost has the same beat as as Robbie when because Robbie ran off to make some money she's gonna rush off to

41:58

yeah and she tells Flynn let's go get married right now that's just you know and he can't just waking up all right

42:03

far out right uh Julia rushes to get married going to Vegas but they're both there are scenes with that you can see

42:09

they're both thinking about each other not yeah yeah so uh this is where I have the break into three Robbie's and again

42:16

it like I said I think it happens very quickly the last half of this movie uh Robbie is

42:22

going to Vegas too uh Glenn won't give her the aisle seat which is a payoff to the yeah conversation earlier and then

42:29

yeah naturally the car comes buying nails are in there that looks like it really got no dude do you hit your funny

42:36

bone or elbow it hurts like a mother yeah oh my gosh uh storming the castle

42:42

okay so Glenn will give the house he's storming the castle on the plane going to find her and stop them so oh yeah he goes before the game yes you like

42:49

[ __ ] sequels I can see you do yeah that's such a good way to get out of a conversation about that kind of thing it looks good on you oh man looks great

42:55

yeah looks good on you are you gonna pay me back uh no but if you don't give me your card I'm gonna tell them what you said at the bar you know right that kind

43:02

of sets up the I don't know if they end up together or not um the yeah I think so I think they do

43:07

yeah yeah the friend right so I think at that point she's like oh it's so sweetie or whatever yeah yeah

43:14

sort of wrapping up his because he he was miserable and he wants the audience to know that this guy's not going to be

43:21

miserable anymore right because he's lovable now you know that behind that exterior sure of you know the womanizer

43:27

type of the player that it's actually a good guy not like Glenn gulia yeah there's no Redemption for the plan he's

43:33

face down in the they shove him in the airport or the airplane bathroom whatever uh yeah so storming the castle

43:40

on the plane going to find her and stop them and she he doesn't know she's on the plane I don't know where she's I'm

43:45

not just look everywhere and hope to right you know uh Gathering the team Billy Idol and the passengers you know

43:50

Billy Idol is going to lead to help him lead the charge uh yeah the last time I watched that I was like you know he's

43:56

sitting in first class and the first thing he says is there's a girl I love and I'm going to Vegas to stop her wedding yeah and the one lady it has you

44:04

have to have that one lady turn around and go oh that's so sweet because that is creepy as [ __ ] she's like wait this

44:11

girl that you're just infatuated with you're going to Vegas to stop her wedding like right okay right yeah

44:18

so they had to have that lady go oh that's so sweet and then Billy Idol embrace it you know yeah you had to

44:23

embrace it yes absolutely no possessions uh the waitress the waitress the stewardess comes in some guy and Coach

44:30

just said I was a great egg piece of meat and of course he knows uh Julia's on the plane I wrote

44:35

um uh very quickly he uh Billy helps him to to uh intervene that the song grow

44:43

old with you uh Billy and the rest lend a hand uh so he sings the song and and

44:48

Glenn winds up in the trapped in the past out of my way Billy yeah uh nobody

44:54

talks to Billy that way yeah you know uh Robbie uh Robbie married uh uh he is now

45:01

so the so the opening image he thought he was who he was supposed to be with closing image I have is he really is who

45:06

he is supposed to be with where he is supposed to be uh and she has no doubts and is not lost anymore

45:12

so all uh their loose ends tied up quite nicely and again I didn't know but somebody was singing that song I guess I

45:18

didn't pay attention but yeah so the opening image closing image everything neatly wrapped in a in a bow and um I

45:24

noticed I guess the first time I ever noticed this I looked behind Robbie and Julia walking down the aisle

45:30

together they had paired um his friend who thought he was Fonzie and her cousin

45:36

they were actually oh the sister you mean or that was the cousin what was it the the limo driver

45:42

the limo driver yeah they were paying them in the wedding Sammy and Holly yeah they were walking down the aisle

45:48

together y'all were talking about them that was the first time I'd ever noticed that they were together because they had a moment at the airport when he paid for

45:54

it right yeah but I mean they had paired them up in the wedding and so they were walking out yeah the other two yeah so

46:00

everything is and Glenn I wonder whatever happened to him because he was a a junk bond salesman yeah yeah I don't

46:07

call you a drunk waitress do I it would didn't wouldn't Black Friday or they call it Black Friday whatever that was

46:13

n it crashed wasn't that like:

46:19

destitute and then Robbie got a a record I mean you know riding dude yeah

46:25

I'm gonna tell the record company about you yeah yeah it was pretty good uh now he's in he's in bonds aren't bonds like

46:32

the most stable but not profitable Financial like because because Robbie says well I got a bond and I'll get 25

46:39

in points he was selling high-yield junk bonds if

46:45

you ever watch Wolf of Wall Street they kind of explained some of that oh yeah okay so it's different regular Bond the

46:50

people the people selling it make the most money okay we're buying it the people selling it whatever but the

46:56

people given the transactions like what Glenn was they're just sharks they're okay yeah so douchebag are we all around

47:02

so when the market crashes yeah they're the first I like thinking he never made it off the plane you know yeah that

47:09

would be cool yeah but I would have killed him well the big dude killed him uh dad was on that plane and he winds up

47:15

in his trunk that's true that's right that's right that's what's up that's who's in the truck is Glenn uh

47:22

yeah a very compact fast little movie but one that I think hits all those

47:27

places and is clearly a favorite the soundtrack really keeps it going yeah

47:32

this is one of the greatest soundtracks I mean people who like to collect that stuff this is in their collection yeah it's

47:38

got all the good stuff to it so that helps Propel the movie keep it light-hearted yeah I absolutely love the

47:45

song at the end um wanna grow old with you and yeah Adam Sandler wrote that right sure yeah I'll

47:51

guarantee you right yeah I absolutely love that you talk about bringing tears to you yes well not to ruin it for you

47:57

guys not trying to but it's the same tune as somebody kill me please

48:06

yeah well that's cool with you

48:23

yeah no it's actually quite brilliant it's two different songs yeah but this

48:28

already felt at one point in the same song and then I wrote the same song later but feeling completely different that's actually a layer that I was not

48:34

aware of it makes me appreciate it even more that's as a songwriter songs evolve all the time so this could be you know

48:40

somebody can we please oh that's a cool Melody let's do something with it later

48:48

it is so sugary sweet right uh but and I've seen it a bunch I'm sure you've

48:53

seen it more than I but every time I see it right I feel the same way so it's a trigger that constantly works I don't

48:59

know I think it was Fallon I think they were on Fallon or something like more recent Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler

49:04

and he like surprises her I think she didn't know Adam Sandler was going to be on there yeah if I remember right you

49:10

can look it up or whatever but he comes out there and surprise her and he sings this song and like she moves her to

49:15

tears yeah sure it is yeah it's they were in Blended together and they were in something else too they I mean thank

49:22

you yeah because they've worked together several times together yeah worked together several times this is almost uh I enjoy working together uh I I I can't

49:30

think of I'm sure there are other like screen couples but but I almost want them to be a real couple right you know

49:36

right yeah well apparently in listening to different podcasts listening to them

49:42

be interviewed like dream Paramore for instance you know she's been in show business all her life her her what was

49:49

it her grandfather who was it was in movies or whatever yeah I don't remember

49:54

but anyway it was a a Barrymore whoever anyway um when she had kids she joined like a

50:03

mommy and me group that had celebrities and she that was her first and last day she said I'm not into this she wanted to

50:09

be around people who weren't you know Drew Bieber yeah Drew Barrymore you know

50:14

she wanted to be around I guess normal people yeah in other words and and to hear um Conan O'Brien talk about uh Adam

50:22

Sandler when he comes to visit you could tell more about that he seems to be just

50:28

like a laid-back kind of normal kind of guy too yeah uh we we uh if you listen

50:33

to um Conan O'Brien needs a friend he's got a podcast you know he

50:39

he is actually making more money on that than I think he probably ever made on Late Night order he talks about it you

50:44

know that but his podcast we drove to Florida and we just put it on we probably listened to 30 episodes of

50:51

Brian needs a friend and laughing in tears he couldn't run as a freaking nut

50:56

yeah uh what was the point of this uh

51:02

yeah he'll talk about it Adam he'll talk about Adam because I

51:07

guess they live in the same neighborhood and so Adam Sandler will will come by Conan I mean you know right but you

51:14

won't knock he'll stand out in the yard Garden I'm here and Conan will come out

51:19

and come on in come on in and so Adam will come in with his kids and his kids are running around and he's making he'll

51:25

he'll say that he was he wishes that that Adam Sandler would stay in visit a while but I guess it gets into Adam

51:31

Sandler's head that well Conan Dunn really want me here okay where you don't want to see we're leaving we're it's like no no sit down no no you don't want

51:38

us here and so he spends like five minutes and then he's out the door anyway he does a great impression of

51:43

yeah anyway but I mean they both seem down to earth yeah he'll just jump and he's wearing his sweats you see him in

51:50

sweats a lot yes like he just yeah he doesn't it's not about appearances

51:55

non uh Hollywood or non you know yeah

52:02

you know yeah yeah you don't want to see her that's funny yeah uh well I did want to say

52:10

that like uh Drew Barrymore has always been seen as sort of uh people's sweetheart you know like you know yeah

52:16

she obviously as a little little girl you see what she was burning people yeah

52:22

both her and and Adam Sandler in this movie uh are portrayed as almost

52:27

innocent children I I know they're not children but they're very sweet yeah sort of open people uh she was really

52:35

young when she did this movie yeah but I didn't realize I think there's what a 10-year difference between the two

52:40

really I didn't know that yeah I didn't realize she was as young we were as

52:45

close in age as I right I didn't realize that oh really yeah okay yeah I thought she was older yeah

52:53

1975 I thought like a non-year difference yeah yeah anyway she she comes across as very sweet and I think

52:59

you know in real life so you're immediately invested with both these I think or whatever yeah 51st dates is

53:05

probably my least favorite of the three we don't like the concept of her having memory loss right yeah that kind of sucks yeah

53:11

um like it's not a bad movie I just it's probably if I had to just wrinkle them like we're Blended I like Blended a lot

53:16

too I don't know if I've seen Blended have we seen yeah blending yeah they both go to Africa

53:26

because they they both have kids and families from other marriages or whatever I remember right

53:32

yeah yeah because it's about blending the families yeah I got it did you did you see the Adam Sandler movie do-over with uh did not if that wasn't any good

53:39

it was really good yeah I really liked it a lot ridiculous six um started watching that one and I

53:45

couldn't yeah I wasn't a big explanation about the base about baseball yeah sounds exactly how baseball was made up

53:51

like oh yeah they throw the ball strike no no that's First Strike I get three of

53:56

these probably yeah no no you go over there no you can't you can't do this you run over

54:02

it's yeah that's what that's ridiculous six the do-over what was that he was in

54:08

a spade right him and Spade yeah it's uh unintentional uh two dead on their luck

54:14

guys decide to fake their own deaths to start new identities it's yeah yeah I saw that yeah he got a deal with

54:20

Netflix wait like a 10 movie because it used to be with um it was in the uh book I read they mentioned like it wasn't

54:25

about Adam Sandler or anything but it was just about uh it's called the big picture and it was about just kind of

54:31

what happened to the Hollywood system and when like how streaming came along yeah so Adam Sandler like you look at a

54:36

lot of his old movies they were Sony movies yeah okay well Sony like basically like ended up like packing up their [ __ ] almost and like losing

54:43

everything really and so Adam Sandler ends up like just as the streamers and stuff just came on and people stopped

54:48

going to the movies so much yeah um so he and that's further Ado he ended up signing up yeah he did that with Chris Rock the six weeks or six the wedding

54:56

the wedding this is called the wedding right yes that one was all right yeah

55:02

what was it called though yeah that was Chris Rock You said yeah week of the weekend I thought it was all

55:10

right yeah it was all right it wasn't as good as I was hoping grown-up sucks Brad if you're listening

55:17

no I like well to me it's just a series of skit comedies I don't know

55:23

it has Selma in it how can you I know but it's not a story as much as it is a bunch of agreed it's him and his buddy

55:30

he's telling a bunch of jokes like yeah the story is very weak too yeah well I still like it um no it is funny at times

55:35

but it's yes it's not Wedding Singer it's not it's like yeah yeah anyway yeah I think Adam Sandler

55:42

was the first guy ever in history to be awarded to razzies nice best male actor

55:48

best actor best actress in Jack and Jill yeah see that one sucked yeah yeah he

55:55

played I laughed the twins or whatever he plays both meleeves

56:00

I'll probably blocked that out yeah yeah um one that I would like to watch again

56:05

uh the I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry or whatever that one was I think was ahead of its time a little bit and I

56:11

remember laughing at it yeah remember liking that one same with That's my boy with yeah you like that one I like that

56:17

one too it Adam Sandler has more hits than messes up sure I think he he I think he writes uh but there's he writes

56:24

to a target audience which is not the critics you know right uh and I but I think some of his stuff is better than

56:29

others for sure and I'm the perfect age for uh Billy Madison Happy Gilmore all

56:35

those two have hit at the right time where I can still quote yeah happy guilt or I'm sorry what's the one where he

56:40

plays Satan's son or whatever a little Nikki yeah that's I didn't like that one as much I haven't seen him but then I'm

56:45

like was it Big Daddy what no yeah big daddy was a big one yeah I did see that

56:51

in the movie theaters if you wanted to go see it it wasn't a serious ones was it Spanglish or something what was it

56:56

Spanglish English was a serious one and then Reign Over Me was another serious one there's the it was like depressed

57:02

and the the Shoemaker or whatever oh I like the cobbler because where Dustin Hoffman was dead I like that one I

57:07

haven't seen that one yet and I like don't mess with zohon which is ridiculous yeah like so I didn't like

57:13

Little Nicky but I like Zohan I mean I was not a fan of the hairdresser or whatever he is yeah if you think about

57:19

it like all these people just like he's not afraid to like ridiculous comedies in these Concepts

57:27

he's a working writer man yeah working actor so yeah and then yeah you said earlier be a

57:33

hustle and uncut gym especially uncut gyms like his performance alone is real because he's not it's not like anything else right right that's why I want to

57:40

see it so yeah I want to see both of them have Farms left and right I mean and just his even he the way it looks

57:45

yes you're like you forget that's [ __ ] Adam right right so I think yeah really good I'm happy to see that you know I mean it's not enough movie by any

57:51

it's not gonna hit you with the fields you know what about the end but it's it's a good movie Just for his performance sure it just reminded me I

57:59

really did like him on SNL do you remember uh when Chris Farley they were singing the sloppy joes

58:06

oh yeah just you know he would get up there and sing the uh not Christmas it

58:13

was a Thanksgiving song Hanukkah yeah all those songs Captain Cook

58:19

David Lee Roth you know whatever yeah yeah Sammy Davis Jr not a Jew

58:26

yeah redheaded sweatshirt oh yeah there was a Halloween song too

58:32

um oh I can't remember maybe it was the business give me some gun day yeah yeah

58:38

that maybe that's what it was yeah I don't know yeah yeah I think we uh yeah

58:44

so we gotta do the the pass consider recommend yes I I recommend it I it's

58:49

it's a comfort movie it's a standby movie I think it hits on all the spots that makes you feel like it's supposed

58:56

to make you feel every time to me so I highly recommend very quotable uh and

59:01

hit you in all the right spots totally recommend all Adam Sandler stuff I would say give it a shot because even times

59:08

like we were just saying before movies you wouldn't even think of that you would like give them a shot yeah he

59:14

he'll he'll do you right yeah yeah same recommend yeah of course yes you know uh

59:20

yeah we're picking she seed a million times you know yep somebody kill me

59:25

please please my eyes

59:32

all right Wedding Singer unanimous and that is it we are out what I'd like to

59:39

do is turn it on and sing along one of those movies that sneak into your

59:45

subconscious yeah you're a [ __ ] I'm a person too pop

59:51

to him love and friends and a good place to live these are what matters to him yeah or this movie is the very reason I

59:59

will now watch Adam Sandler movies going forward you watch these movies and you want to

::

believe in love and you want to believe in sweet sweet love and yeah I have a jar of money on my

::

refrigerator I would like to add more money to it that's where you commit

::

creepy as [ __ ] spread if you're listening

About your hosts

Philip McClimon

Profile picture for Philip McClimon
Philip A. McClimon is an author who likes to write about the end of the world (post apocalyptic, Sci/Fi), mostly because he thinks the shopping would be awesome (No crowds, everything free). He likes heroes that are the strong, silent type and not necessarily male. By silent he means up until the time there is something snarky to say, usually before, during, and after doing something cool.

He writes Urban Fantasy under the name Billy Baltimore for no other reason than that he likes the name. Many of the same rules for his other stories apply to Billy’s, strong silent types, smart mouth, does cool stuff, but these stories take place in a made up town called Hemisphere and involve stuff you only ever hear about on late night conspiracy talk show podcasts, which are, if you think about it, pretty awesome too.

So, that's Phil. He's not strong, rarely silent, and isn't known for doing a lot of cool things.

But his characters are.

Sherry McClimon

Profile picture for Sherry McClimon
The wife of Philip McClimon. Probably all that needs to be said. She is responsible for his bad behavior not being worse than it is. She is concerned that her mother might listen.

James Harris

Profile picture for James Harris
James Harris is a tech guru and musician extraordinaire; he also loves movies. A pretty decent guy all around.

Chris Sapp

Profile picture for Chris Sapp
Chris Sapp has been a friend for a lot of years and a writer for a lot more. An encyclopedic knowledge of story and movies, he can take you on a deep dive into script and screen. Another pretty decent guy, which are the only kind allowed around here.
