Diversity, Division, and Media Manipulation
The Evolution of Social Themes and Media Influence in '90s Movies
In this episode, the discussion delves into the subtle inclusion of diverse social themes in '90s movies, focusing on a scene involving two women kissing. The conversation touches on how contemporary audiences might react differently compared to the '90s, the reflection of societal diversity, and the growing politicization of media content. Additionally, the dialogue explores broader issues around media influence, particularly how news stories are crafted to provoke reactions and the impact of major events like the O.J. Simpson case on media consumption and public perception.

Yeah She kisses the other female that she's talking. Yes on the lips. Yeah Yeah, I didn't I didn't yeah, they kiss on the lips or whatever.
[:[00:00:31] Chris: Either they're okay with it or they're, oh, why is this in the fucking movie? This is ruin my fucking movie. But this is back in the nineties. Also, if you look at everybody on the bus, like there was lots of different, you know, the were Asian, there was, yeah, diverse, right? Yeah. I feel like too, if you watch a movie now, like people are like, oh, they're just putting that in there to.
[:[00:01:05] Chris: If it's not, I don't care. Well, the fact is America is the first country, I just don't give a shit, as long as I'm there to watch the story, and if that's, you know what I mean? Well,
[:[00:01:23] Phil: I agree. And I think that's being driven by forces that want control of us and of power. All hail
[:[00:01:33] Phil: I saw a meme or something that said, if you're angry watching a news story, be aware that the news story was written to make you angry. Yeah. Sure. You know, and that's absolutely true.
[:[00:01:49] Phil: Right. They don't love you. Well, you know, Don Henley said, you know, in that song, Dirty Laundry, Dirty laundry sells tickets, man. You know what I mean? People watch
[:[00:02:08] James: Oh yeah. And it was art reflecting life. But when he says, you know, the cops are here to help us, you know, they're, they're here to save us. Otherwise they don't get paid their taxes. That is in that time where they weren't trusting cops. No,
[:[00:02:25] James: LA, man.
[:[00:02:38] Phil: I think you know,
[:[00:02:48] James: Or these two ladies are kissing, maybe they're, you know, Hungarian.
[:[00:03:04] James: swore, I was like, that would have been the perfect line, not again.
[:[00:03:09] Chris: can anyone else drive this bus? Get off my bus.
